HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO GET A WOF?

It depends on when your vehicle was first registered. A Warrant of Fitness is required every six months for vehicles 6 years or older, and every 12 months for newer vehicles. For more information, visit the NZTA (Waka Kotahi) website.

CAN I DRIVE MY VEHICLE WITHOUT A WOF in Auckland?

It's illegal to drive your car without a valid warrant of fitness in Auckland or elsewhere in the country, or a valid WOF certificate of fitness sticker displayed. This is to ensure that your vehicle meets the required safety standards. You can only drive the vehicle (if it is safe to do so) when taking it somewhere to get it repaired, or to get a new WOF inspection done.

Can I GET MY WOF AT THE SAME TIME AS ANOTHER SERVICE?

Yes, in fact we recommend getting your WOF done at the same time as you service your car, as a WOF inspection doesn't cover all aspects of your vehicle, such as the engine, clutch, gearbox, lubricant levels, etc. For more information on what's covered in the WOF check, see our WOF inspection checklist below.

WHAT HAPPENS IF my vehicle fails a WOF INSPECTION?

If our WOF inspection finds any issues with your vehicle that would cause it to fail the inspection, we can do the repair work onsite quickly and efficiently. Your vehicle will be re-inspected on the spot, and your car warrant of fitness issued.
